Worn by Loring Hayden

Loring Hayden was a photographer, playwright and actor active in the Florida GLBT and female impersonation communities in the middle of the 20th century. He was born on May 7, 1921 in Orange, New Jersey. Hayden served in the U.S. military for a period of time before graduating from Yale University in 1947. In the 1950s, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study art in Paris.

Hayden subsequently moved to the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts, where he was active in the local artistic community throughout the 1960s and 1970s. In his later years, he became known for his performances in Florida drag shows.
